Canvas has several different mobile apps available for both iOS and Android devices.

Once you have downloaded a Canvas app, you will be able to login to Canvas by opening the app and (1) locating your institution by typing "University of North Texas Health Science Center" and (2) logging in with your single-sign on credentials, just the same as you currently do for desktop access to Canvas.

Canvas Teacher App

Canvas teacher app

The Canvas Teacher App is your one stop shop for accessing your Canvas course on the go!

Instructure describes the app on their website, writing that:

"Canvas Teacher allows teachers to facilitate their courses on the go, both inside and outside the classroom. This app provides quick access to grading, communicating, and updating—three of the most frequent course facilitation tasks for teachers through Announcements, Assignments, Discussions, and Quizzes."

The Canvas Teacher app is best used when you want to grade or make quick announcements to a class when you don't have access to a full computer (or just want to sent on the couch to get some work done).

Canvas Student App

In the past, Canvas had an app called "Canvas by Instructure". This app is no longer avaliable and students now have a Canvas Student app. A faculty member can use this app, but it will show your course only in student view and your functionality in the course will be extremely limited. It is recommended that you download this app just so you can experience your courses from the view that students will have when accessing your courses on their mobile devices.

Instructure describes the app on their website, writing that:

"Canvas Student allows students to access their courses and groups using a mobile device. Students can submit assignments, participate in discussions, view grades and course materials. The app also provides access to course calendars, To Do items, notifications, and Conversations messages."

Canvas Parent App

Canvas parent app screenshotDid you know Canvas is widely used in K-12 learning environments as well? Well, there's an app for that. Canvas Parent is for parents of students who use Canvas in K-12. While this app doesn't do much for us here at UNTHSC, you may be interested in learning more.

Instructure describes the app on their website, writing that:

"Canvas Parent enhances the potential for parents to engage in their children's education. Parents can review upcoming or past assignments, check on grades, and receive alerts for student activity."
